history tour 1

On the first history tour I saw lots of things and learnt heaps of stuff. The first thing that I learnt was that the Norfolk island pine which grow on beaches were planted as a supply of wood for ships masts. I also learnt some stuff about some other trees. After we got to the Inness national park we went to Stenhouse bay which was an old mining town. There they mined allot of different materials for buildings and many other things. After we had a look around the mining town we went to Inneston which is now a ghost town and there are also some buildings that you can rent out to stay in. It was very interesting looking at all the different buildings and structures in the town. One of the things that we saw was the original Bellco chalk factory which had survived but wasn't being used to make chalk anymore. After we had a good look at the town we went and had a look at the wreaks of the ships the Ferret and the Ethel. the Ethel had got beached and eventually rusted away and the Ferret got wreaked and fell apart. At the same beach there were also some pirate caves but because the tide was in and there was some really big surf we couldn't explore the caves. After we had a look at the wreaks we went back to camp.
